Katie Swietlik lived in this remote mountain community near Oaxaca, Mexico for six months. She worked with the local women, who are skilled textile artists, to produce a series of mixed media self portraits using photographic images embellished with embroidery and natural materials from the area. The resulting work was exhibited in August 2011 at the Calles y Sueños gallery in Chicago.
